West Hills PE students are required to participate in several team sports, partner games/drills, and individual fitness activities. ~ Each sports unit will include skills/drills and/or lead up games. ~Pre and post fitness testing will be conducted each semester and will include: 1 mile run, 1 minute sit-ups (crunches), pull-ups/bar hang, bicep pull (Tri-Fit Machine), sit and reach (Tri-Fit Machine), and shuttle run. ~ Fitness days will usually be once a week and include either the 1 mile run outside or pace running inside. Pace running will start off with four 2 minute intervals jogging with 1 minute power walking in between. Jogging time will progressively increase to four 3 minute jogs, four 4 minute jogs, two five minute jogs, two 6 minute jogs, one seven minute jog, one 8 minute jog, and one 10 minute jog.
